This position supports the campus “one” card system (SandDollars) from Server hardware and software to the transaction terminals utilizing a combination of TCP/IP and RS422 communications.    This includes, but is not limited to, CBORD CSGOLD 6.2 and Micros Point of Sale 3.2 with stored value, entitlements, and Access Control with alarm management.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a computer related field and two years experience in hardware, operating systems and applications support. Additional education may be used as a substitute for the experience requirement.

Demonstrated critical thinking and problem solving ability; Strong working knowledge of network based systems and relational database queries and reporting. Ability to install and troubleshoot access control hardware and software. Demonstrated ability to install computer and network based hardware and software as well as knowledge of LAN topology and protocols. Must be able to work independently and in a team environment. Ability to access wiring in the ceiling and work in confined spaces.  

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in relational database administration. Strong problem determination and resolution of hardware, software and communication protocols.

Job Duties

·         Analyze, determine, and resolve hardware and software problems on multiple platforms coordinating with vendors and campus departments as necessary to ensure swift problem resolution. Provide documentation on problem status, circumvention and resolution.

·         Maintain and configure databases, applications, and command procedures to meet departmental initiatives and objectives. Document changes, enhancements, application functionality, operation, and interaction with other applications and systems.

·         Maintain University Services computer systems and applications availability by monitoring, identifying, diagnosing, and backing up as needed to ensure ongoing operational availability.

·         Install, configure, wire, and connect card system terminals for end-user point-of-sale, debit, entitlements, and bankcard applications; access controllers/readers; vending controllers/readers; copier controllers/readers; and other University Services/SandDollars equipment.

·         Analyze, determine, and resolve communication problems connecting, cross connecting and tracing wiring in closets and confined spaces.

·         Assume ID card Specialists duties in their absence; opening and closing the SandDollars office, making bank deposits, processing cashier turnover, and cash handling.

·         Other duties as assigned.
