General Session

Future of Campus Cards

YouTube Videos

Cam Richardson and Dan Bodolai, ITC Systems

Many of us struggle to keep abreast of emerging technologies in our industry.  It seems that just when one technology begins to be adopted another technology emerges.  This session will engage the audience in a philosophical discussion on the future of the industry.  What technology is out there now?  What will be the future technology?  Will we be using cell phones for purchases? Biometrics?  Or, perhaps still using a card?  What do the experts say about the future?  How can we keep up with the changing technology and stage ourselves strategically?  While there may not be any clear cut answers for these questions - the discussion is bound to be interesting and very valuable.

Cam RichardsonCam is one of the co-founders of ITC Systems and currently controls 100% of the outstanding shares in the consolidated group of companies. Prior to starting up ITC Systems, Cam held the position of Manager, Eastern Canada for CCV Systems, a division of Red Carpet Food Services of Toronto. In 1989, Cam and Mr. Alfred Betts founded ITC Systems and acquired the magnetic control assets of CCV Systems. With over 20 years’ experience in the electronic transaction industry, Cam’s marketing and business development skills have been one of the principal drivers behind ITC’s success to date. Cam acquired 100% control of ITC in 1991 and in 1993, he started up ITC Systems (USA) Inc., a subsidiary operation based in Atlanta Georgia. In 2001 he acquired the assets of Access Control Technologies out of St. Louis and moved the US office to that location.  In 2002 Cam acquired the assets of Cybermark, a company involved in the campus card industry who implemented 18 schools with Smart Card technology. As President and owner, Cam has focused a great deal of his efforts on the strategic direction of the company, positioning ITC as a “one stop shopping place” with regard to self-serve electronic transaction solutions.

Dan BodolaiDan has been with ITC since its inception in 1989. Over the past 22 years, Dan has developed a detailed knowledge of ITC Systems, its customers, its processes, its products and the people.  Dan has performed many roles within the company that include stints in Engineering, Service, Production, Sales and the role of General Manager.  He is extremely dedicated to the well-being of the corporation and its customers.  His current role reflects his desire to continue to grow the business as only he could do given his wealth of experience. Dan holds a B.A in Electrical Engineering from the Ryerson Polytechnical Institute.

Where do we start, what do we do and how do we put it all together? A one hour session on what you should and shouldn’t do, the pitfalls and surprises that await you during the process and how to best manage your timelines.  We’ll discuss our mistakes and shortcomings in the planning process and where the hurdles arose in the roll out of our card programs. His latest move is to his current position as Manager of Food, Conferences and Card Services at the University of Ottawa.  For the past 2 ½ years Patrick has spearheaded the uOttawa one-card program initiative from its inception and has successfully completed phase one of their project’s five phases.
