PENN STATE STUDENTS, STAFF AND FACULTY
EMBRACE PNC BANK
SERVICES THAT ARE ACCESSIBLE THROUGH
PENN STATE’S MULTI-PURPOSE
id+ Card CAMPUS CARD
Seamless
enrollment and easy banking access created
cardholder loyalty, prompting PNC and
Penn State to extend a PNC Bank-Penn State
campus card
banking agreement to 2013
STATE COLLEGE, Pa., April 13, 2007—The
Pennsylvania State University and
PNC Bank, N.A. announced today that its
banking services agreement for
campus Penn State id+ Card holders, which
began in 2002, will be extended
through the end of 2013. PNC Bank’s
exclusive free banking services are
available to all id+ card holders and have
been embraced by students,
staff, and faculty members.
“PNC has shown that they are committed to
meeting the needs of our
students, faculty, and staff. We are very
pleased to continue our
partnership and develop innovative new
services to benefit our students,
faculty, and staff,” said Gary Schultz,
Senior Vice President for Finance
and Business/Treasurer.
"Our relationship with PNC has been a
wonderful benefit to our
students, faculty, and staff over the past
five years," said Joel Weidner,
director of information systems in Auxiliary
and Business Services at Penn
State. "We have been so pleased with the
services and collaboration that we
negotiated this new longer-term agreement
early."
The id+ card is issued to every student,
staff, and faculty member.
The id+ card can be used as a direct and
secure tool that can access linked
PNC Bank accounts that are opened at any PNC
Bank branch or through PNC’s
www.pnc.com web portal.
The Penn State-PNC Bank agreement provides
nearly 70,000
students--plus more than 16,000 faculty and
staff on Penn State’s campuses
across the Commonwealth--with access to a
variety of PNC resources,
including free checking accounts, free
online banking and Web Bill payment,
and free linking of the University ID card
to their PNC bank accounts and
customized web sites. In addition, PNC
customers from Penn State can
register for free PNC AutoAlerts to monitor
spending and account balances.
PNC also has an extensive and growing ATM
network, with ATMs located on 17
of the 23 campuses at the present time.
“Through the successful collaboration of
Penn State and PNC we have
established a campus card program that is on
the leading edge not only in
technology, but in demonstrated value to the
students, faculty, and staff
who use it every day,” said Dennis P.
Brenckle, regional president for PNC
Bank.
Educating the Penn State population about ID
theft, budgeting, and
credit are other major components of the
PNC’s continued commitment. ”We
feel accountable for the financial well
being of our Penn State customers,
particularly the students who need to know
how to use banking tools
wisely,” said Nick Certo, manager of PNC’s
University and WorkPlace Banking
programs.
PNC maintains an Electronic Customer Service
Center in the
HUB-Robeson Center at Penn State’s
University Park campus, in addition to a
web station and an advanced function
ATM. PNC Bank’s College Avenue branch across
the street from Penn State’s Old Main was
remodeled in 2006 to support PNC’s growing
relationship with the
university. That facility includes four
advanced function ATMs. In total,
there are 20 ATMs available to students,
PNC has formal relationships with more than
100 schools across an
eight-state region. This includes 12
alliance schools that have extensive
relationships with PNC including the
University of Pittsburgh, Temple
University and the University of
Pennsylvania.
