today announced the addition of
Tri-band readers to the
IntelliStripeŽ family of card
readers. The innovative Tri-band
readers integrate magstripe,
smartcard, and contactless
technologies, allowing three
distinct information bands or card
data inputs in a single device.
The Tri-band readers not only offer
the intelligent technological
integration, but they also provide
the traditional major features and
support for each technology:
1. Magstripe: 3-track reader
2. Smartcard: EMV 4.0 certified
3. Contactless: Mastercard PayPass,
VISA Wave, MIFARE, American Express
ExpressPay, and Discover Card.
Additionally, IntelliStripe Tri-band
readers are ready with PC/SC
support, the important standard
developed to provide smartcard
access on Windows platforms and to
facilitate the introduction of
smartcards in the world of PC’s. The
principal benefit of PC/SC is the
abstraction of the reader interface
for the application thus simplifying
the communication requirements and
allowing the application to function
with any reader that is PC/SC
compliant.
