Pocket 1Card – Parking™

On many campuses parking can be problematic, with students parking in restricted lots or visitors parking in spots designated for students only.  Having the ability to check the status of a vehicle on campus, who it belongs to, if it is parked in the appropriate area and ultimately issue a ticket are vital to those responsible for campus parking.  General Meters Corporation™ has developed the perfect tool to meet these needs, the Pocket 1Card – Parking™.

Vehicle Information

Within the University One-Card System™ you have the ability to record vehicles, belonging to an account, under the area of Account Maintenance.  Information on each vehicle includes make, model, year, color and over color as well as license plate number, state, and country.  If your campus issues a numbered parking permit of some type you may also record the permit number assigned to each vehicle.  Once this data is entered into the University One-Card System™ it can be loaded onto a Pocket 1Card for use around campus by security officers or designated administrators.

Pocket 1Card

Each officer assigned to parking duty can be issued a Pocket 1Card™ device, complete with all vehicle information, to assist them in their duties.  Pocket 1Card – Parking™ will allow the user to view information regarding any vehicle in the database.  If you know the name of an individual or their account number you may enter this information to retrieve their account, however in most instances you will only have their permit number or license plate information.  Simply enter this information into Pocket 1Card and parking related information is displayed, such as vehicle make, model, year, color and owner.  You may even view an account’s assigned or purchased parking plans, the details of the plan and related groups.  This will allow the officer to research a vehicle to see if it is parked legally, if it is in the appropriate lot at the allowed time and the owner of the vehicle; all vital information to their job at hand.

Vehicle Infractions and Tickets

We all know that not every driver will follow the campus parking policy and may park illegally.  Issuing a ticket to those vehicles parked illegally is something an officer will do on a daily basis, something that also takes time when done manually.  With Pocket 1Card – Parking™ the task of issuing tickets is efficient and takes only seconds.

Defining Violations

In order to issue tickets you first must set up the violations that can occur on your campus.  In order to make Pocket 1Card as flexible as possible all violations are user defined, allowing you to utilize existing campus terminology and violation names.  Violations are defined in Pocket 1Card Administrative Program.  Each violation contains a name, description and either a preset fine or the designation to allow the officer to manually enter a fine.

Issuing Ticket with Pocket 1Card

Issuing tickets for parking infractions is a quick task for an officer possessing Pocket 1Card – Parking™.  Once the officer displays the vehicle information they need only click the ticket function, select the campus location and the appropriate violation.  Using a Bluetooth enabled receipt printer a paper ticket is printed on site and may be left on the vehicle.  The printer can conveniently be worn on the belt of the officer or administrator.  Ticket information is predefined by the user including both a header and footer text block where information can be entered on how to pay for the ticket for example.  Tickets will also contain the issuing officer information, date, time, location, ticket number, vehicle information, violation and fine.  If the vehicle does not happen to be in the database, perhaps it belongs to a visitor, the officer may can quickly key in the vehicle information.  Each ticket issued is assigned a unique ticket number by the system.  Pocket 1Card – Parking will save time and increase efficiency of issuing tickets for vehicle infractions.

Ticket Payment

Payment for tickets is handled through the Pocket 1Card Administrative Program.  Once the appropriate ticket is selected from the list of all tickets, by entering the ticket number or vehicle information, payment can be processed by cash, credit card or via a balance from the University One-Card System™.
