HIGHER ONE HOLDS FIRST USERS GROUP CONFERENCE FOR COLLEGE & UNIVERSITY CLIENTS

Conference to Offer Unique Opportunities for Networking and Education – Exclusively for Higher One’s Growing Number of College and University Clients

New Haven, CT, September 2006 – Higher One, a leading provider of customized financial services dedicated exclusively to the higher education market, will hold its first ever Higher One Users Group (HUG) Conference on Wednesday, October 4th through Friday, October 6th at the Omni Hotel in New Haven, CT.  The HUG Conference will provide Higher One’s clients with the opportunity to network with colleagues from other higher education institutions, and participate in education and “birds of a feather” special interest sessions.  This is part of Higher One’s overall initiative to increase communication between their clients, as a way to share best practices, solutions, etc. with their colleagues.

Focused exclusively on higher education, Higher One sees the HUG Conference as a way to promote interaction between its college and university clients while promoting growth with the program into the future.  Higher One launched a “call for proposals” allowing clients to actively participate in program, providing perspective and best practices from their campus.

Higher One is proud to announce that University of Wisconsin-Stout Chancellor Charles W. Sorensen, Ph.D., will be the inaugural keynote speaker at HUG.  As Chancellor, Sorensen helped initiate the institution’s quality initiative leading to UW-Stout being the first Malcolm Baldrige Award recipient in higher education and was also recently awarded as the Menomonie Area Chamber of Commerce’s “Citizen of the Year” in a career full of achievements.  Sorensen has served as a teacher, historian, academic dean and academic vice prior to joining the UW-Stout staff in 1988 as the sixth person to head the century-old institution.  Since coming to Wisconsin, Sorensen has actively promoted economic development in the state through partnerships between UW-Stout and the private sector.

“I am very excited to be the inaugural keynote speaker for the Higher One Users Group Conference,” said University of Wisconsin-Stout Chancellor Sorensen, HUG keynote speaker.  “At UW-Stout we have had tremendous success with Higher One and I look forward to sharing thoughts on our program, as well as the other best practices that enabled us to become a Malcolm Baldrige award recipient.”

The HUG Conference will encourage initiatives and partnerships among Higher One’s college and university clients.  In addition to a variety of information-rich sessions, the conference will also provide Higher One’s clients with a tour of the company’s headquarters and several fun and entertaining activities to provide attendees with networking opportunities.

“We work hard with our clients to listen to their needs and provide services that help them improve service to their students,” said Sean Glass, Founder and Chief Marketing Officer of Higher One.  “We are excited that the Higher One Users Group Conference will enable face to face conversations with our clients and between our clients, enabling further growth and benefit for everyone involved.  We look forward to hosting everyone in New Haven.”
