ACUTA’S FALL SEMINARS FOCUS ON NEW TECHNOLOGIES
AND COPING WITH CAMPUS FINANCIAL CHALLENGES

LEXINGTON, Kentucky, September 18, 2006 – Exploring the newest technologies and their impact on college campuses, and how to build chargeback and cost models for those technologies and others, are the focus of this year’s Fall Seminars of ACUTA, the Association for Communications Technology Professionals in Higher Education.

The seminars are October 22-25 in Portland, Oregon, at the Portland Marriott Downtown Waterfront. They will feature presentations by representatives from a broad range of colleges and universities. Representing institutions such as Duke University, Notre Dame, Northwestern University, the University of Texas, and the University of Arizona, presenters will share their insight, experiences, and successes with their peers.

Educational sessions concentrating on new and evolving technologies will cover mobile data, wireless, geographic information systems, the latest forms of messaging, and more. Sessions focusing on chargeback and cost issues will address topics such as fee-based information technology services, dealing with business cellular phones, cable television, and the need for an IT business and funding model.

ACUTA is the only national association dedicated to serving the needs of higher education communications technology professionals, representing nearly 2,000 individuals at 825 institutions.

“This year’s Fall Seminars are a great opportunity for ACUTA members and others to learn more about the new technologies that are changing the face of so many college campuses, and how to deal with them from a financial standpoint,” said Jeri Semer, executive director of ACUTA. “As with any ACUTA event, the educational sessions are only part of the value. Communications professionals get the chance to network with their peers and learn from each other, developing information sources and contacts that can be a tremendous benefit to them and to their institutions.”
