GMC Announces latest version of OneCard System
Jeff Zander, General Meters Corporation Vice President recently announced that the latest version of the University OneCard System (Platinum Plus) will run under Oracle and Microsoft SQL.
Those clients already using Oracle or SQL are able to take advantage of a myriad of benefits as well as an open platform/open architecture design. Clients can take comfort in the fact that should their campus decide to switch in the future, they will be able to do so at no cost from General Meters.
General Meters has an SQL version of OneCard currently in use at Emory University, a GMC client for nearly twenty years. Emory is also using a biometric device implemented by General Meters in order for athletes to gain access to the pool and other areas. Zander is quick to point out that due to the international status of General Meters, engineers are available eighteen hours a day to help expedite design, customization and support requests.
The University OneCard System is operational on dozens of campuses in the US, Canada and Europe. The system permits automated deposits via the web, the viewing of statements and selection of meal plans - avoiding the need for staff and reducing/eliminating lines/queues.
Zander confirms a number of clients played key roles in the development and testing of the revolutionary release and that General Meters elected to provide the software at no cost to all clients with annual maintenance contracts in effect.
