HEARTLAND PAYMENT SYSTEMS ANNOUNCES EXECUTIVE PROMOTIONS

Robert Baldwin Promoted to President and Chief Financial Officer;

Alan Sims Named Chief Technology Officer;

Marty Moretti Appointed Chief Service Officer

Princeton, NJ-November 1, 2007-Today, Heartland Payment Systems (NYSE: HPY), a leading provider of credit/debit/prepaid card processing, payroll and payment services, announced a series of executive promotions designed to help propel the company's expected growth for the coming years.

Robert Baldwin, the company's chief financial officer since 2000, has been promoted to president and chief financial officer.  Baldwin has been responsible for building the finance function as the company grew from a $15 million value to $1.1 billion in market capitalization. During that time, he oversaw Heartland's initial public offering on the New York Stock Exchange in 2005 and held primary responsibility for the company's internal controls, financial policies and procedures, and investor relations.

"Since joining Heartland, Bob has been a strong ally, a trusted voice for the company with Wall Street and our business partners, and a solid operating manager who intimately understands every aspect of our business," said Bob Carr, chairman and chief executive officer of Heartland. "As chief financial officer, Bob guided us through one of the most successful initial public offerings ever in the financial services industry. As  president and chief financial officer, Bob will now be responsible for finance, operations and administration."

Prior to joining Heartland Payment Systems, Baldwin was chief financial officer of COMFORCE Corp., a publicly traded staffing company.  He started his career as an investment banker at Smith Barney, rising to become managing director of the firm's financial institutions practice.   Baldwin graduated from Princeton University with a Bachelor of Arts degree and obtained an M.B.A. from Stanford University's Graduate School of Business.

Alan Sims has been promoted to chief technology officer.  A Heartland employee since 2000, Sims was instrumental in the development and implementation of Exchange, Heartland's proprietary front-end processing system.  He has over 20 years of experience in information technology with multinational corporations such as Electronic Data Systems, Pan Am World Services, and Control Data Corporation as well as the United States Government.  Sims graduated from the University of Alabama in Huntsville with a Bachelor of Arts in Finance.

Carr commented, "The CTO is a key role at Heartland, and Alan's leadership in the execution of our proprietary processing systems makes him the ideal person to fill that position.  Since our inception, Heartland has used technology as a competitive differentiator that drives our low-cost business model.  This was recently recognized when InformationWeek named us one of the 50 most innovative companies in the United States. I look forward to working with Alan to expand the development of Heartland's cost-efficient, robust payment platforms."

In a newly established role, Marty Moretti has been promoted to chief service officer and will manage the company's service center in Jeffersonville, IN.  Moretti joined Heartland in 2002 from Welsch Financial Services, most recently serving as executive director of servicing. He will now oversee Heartland's 600 service and operations professionals in a new state-of-the-art facility that will open in early December.  Moretti is a graduate of Penn State University.

 "As we begin our second decade, these leaders will play an instrumental role in our continued growth," Carr concluded.  "Financial operations, technology development, and merchant services are key to the value we deliver to both our customers and shareholders."
