UW-Parkside Offers Innovative “OneAccount” Service To The Entire Campus

To better serve its students, faculty, and staff, the University of Wisconsin-Parkside has contracted with Higher One to provide one-card banking and electronic funds disbursement.  The new system will provide easy access to a variety of customized banking services using the Ranger Card, UW-Parkside’s ID card.

Starting in the spring semester 2004, the Ranger OneCard will function as a MasterCard Debit Card, which is accepted by more than 31 million merchants worldwide. It can serve as a primary bank account, allowing cardholders to get cash from ATMs, write checks, send and receive money electronically and monitor their accounts online.  Students can receive their financial aid refunds and payroll checks electronically through this new system. It can also be used to fund the campus “Bear Bucks” account. The card will automatically be offered as a benefit of enrollment at UW-Parkside.

"We are pleased with this arrangement, which is yet another innovative way of serving our students," said UW-Parkside Chancellor John P. Keating. "UW-Parkside has been a leader in change for higher education and this arrangement is a good fit for us."

“Students will benefit by having financial aid refunds available to them sooner” added William Streeter, UW-Parkside’s Vice Chancellor for Administration & Fiscal Affairs.  “Students, faculty and staff will continue to benefit from the opportunity to use their Ranger OneCard worldwide.”

Through the association with Higher One, UW-Parkside expects increased efficiency and cost savings.
