ICMA announces new additions to Board of Directors

The International Card Manufacturers Association (ICMA), a non-profit association comprised of plastic card manufacturers, personalizers and related industry participants, announced the election of two new officers and an associate member representative to serve on the association’s Board of Directors. The announcement was made during the ICMA 12th Annual EXPO, held November 9-12, 2003 in Cancun, Mexico.

Tai Kyu Choi, chairman of KBC Corporation, was elected as president of ICMA.

 "It is a great honor for me to serve as the ICMA president, especially in light of the vibrant industry growth in the Asia-Pacific market," said Choi. "I look forward to growing this organization even further not only in this region, but throughout the world."

In addition, Herbert Grün was elected vice president of ICMA. He has chaired and presented several ICMA workshops, and continues to play an integral role in expanding the association’s membership on a global level.

"Having been on the ICMA Board for several years, it is my privilege to be serving as vice president, assuming an even stronger leadership role in the association," said Grün.

Joining the ICMA Board, as an associate member representative, is Bill Knotts.

A long-time member and supporter of ICMA, Knotts is president of Spartanics, which this year celebrated its 40th business anniversary.

Each ICMA Board member will serve a two year term, effective immediately.

In addition to election results, ICMA also presented its Outstanding Member Service Award to Fernando Bautista of Thomas Greg & Sons Ltd. Along with serving as the official ICMA destination chairperson for this EXPO, Fernando and his staff provided translation service for the entire Basics of the Card Industry Training Program, which is posted on the ICMA web site and, as the official destination chairperson for this EXPO, he acted as a liaison for those traveling to the area from Latin America and abroad.
