Exceptional CBORD Users
Honored at Annual
Conference
November 4, 2008
Ithaca, New York—As
part of its 29th annual
User Group Conference (UGC),
The CBORD Group, Inc.,
presented its Excellence
Awards to two client
organizations and an
individual for their
outstanding achievements
throughout the past
year. These clients were
honored not only for
their innovative uses of
CBORDŽ products, but
also for their service
to the greater CBORD
user community.
UGC 2008, which drew
more than 600 attendees,
was held October 8–11 at
the Grand Hyatt in San
Antonio, Texas. The
Excellence Awards were
presented during the
Friday night gala
dinner, capping off the
education- and
networking-filled
conference.
South Eastern Sydney and
Illawarra Area Health
Service (SESIAHS)
received the Visionary
award for their
innovative use of
CBORD’s Food Management
Systems (FMS) database,
Foodservice SuiteŽ (FSS),
Nutrition Service SuiteŽ
(NSS), Bedside Menu
Entry, Data Movement
Utility (DMU),
Enterprise Transaction
Manager (ETM), ADT/ORD
(admissions, discharges,
and transfer/diet
orders) interfaces,
EventMasterŽ catering
and event management
software, and the Oracle
General Ledger and
Accounts Payable
interface.
“Through their
installation of
additional CBORD
software beyond FMS, and
their innovative and
extensive use of the
system, they have
achieved improved
quality service
delivery, as well as
considerable staff and
food cost savings. They
were the first clients
in Australia to set up
and use DMU, ETM, and
the financial
interface,” says Kirsty
Maunder, Software
Implementation Manager,
CBORD. “SESIAHS
continues to maximize
the use of CBORD
products and is a model
site.”
The One CBORD award was
given to the University
of Iowa Hospitals and
Clinics for their
realization of the
benefits gained from
integrating multiple
CBORD systems, including
FSS, NSS,
EventMasterŽ PLUS!,
Diet Office Management
System, Room Service,
Handheld Inventory
Management, Inventory
Management Systems, Menu
Management, NetNutritionŽ,
Odyssey PCS™ card
system, Professional
Diet Analyzer, and
WebfoodŽ online ordering
system.
“The nice thing about
CBORD software is it is
fully integrated: all
the pieces talk to one
another, so you don’t
have to worry about
losing data as it moves
back and forth or
maintaining separate
databases,” says Doug
Robertson, Senior
Associate Director,
Patient Services,
University of Iowa
Hospitals and Clinics.
“We’re a very firm
believer in customer
service and we really
strive to be a leader in
that department. What
CBORD has allowed us to
do with their software
is to provide that type
of world-class service
to our patients.”
CBORD presented the
Above & Beyond award to
John Matherson from
North Carolina A&T State
University for the
leadership and passion
for excellence he
exhibits as Director of
the Aggie OneCard
Office. Matherson played
an integral role in
establishing North
Carolina A&T State
University’s
state-of-the-art
security system, which
includes CBORD’s CS
GoldŽ campus card
system, CS Access™, CS
Action and Response
Management™,
thirty-eight digital
video recorders from
CBORD’s partner NICE
Systems, and over 350
cameras.
“John is definitely a
leader. He loves
technology: if it’s out
there and can happen, he
will find a way to make
it happen to keep you
above the forefront of
where you can go and
what you can do with
card technology,” says
Angela Peterson,
Director of Auxiliary
Services, North Carolina
A&T State University.
“We like to think that
because of John, he has
put us on the cutting
edge ahead of other
schools in terms of card
operations and security
technology.”
“These users have
demonstrated their
ingenuity with our
products and their
dedication to the CBORD
community, and we are
proud to honor their
achievements,” says
Cindy McCall, Vice
President of Marketing,
CBORD. “Our customers’
commitment to enhancing
the real-world usability
of our products and
sharing their
experiences with one
another is key to our
continued success.”
