SmartCentric and Pharos Systems generate savings with a single card solution

Dublin, Ireland and West Palm Beach, Florida, United States

SmartCentric Technologies International Ltd (SmartCentric) today announced that they have partnered with Pharos Systems International, Inc. to implement an integrated printing and copy solution, to add to their highly successful multi-application smart card system, extensively deployed across University, College and Corporate campuses.

The SmartCity smart card based system, which incorporates both contact and contactless smart card functionality, now provides additional savings to card offices and card managers to add to the many other applications currently in use on and off campus.  The new integrated solution will allow customers to track, monitor, audit, and control their print and copy assets to reduce waste, optimize performance, guide the purchase of new devices, and make the most of existing ones.

Staff and students already use their campus wide ID card for SmartCity Meal Plans, point of sale on and off campus using up to 4 separate purses, vending, photocopying, secure logon to computers and the network and Web based account revalue.  Through the integration of the SmartCity solution with Pharos UniprintÒ, Universities and Colleges will achieve even greater saving on print and copy costs while also providing a streamlined printing solution for staff and students. For corporate customers, SmartCity integrates with Pharos BlueprintÒ Enterprise, offering printing security, cost savings, and waste reduction.

The SmartCity solution provides a range of applications on a single card, which operates in an online or offline mode to ensure simple and streamlined access to applications and systems at a central or remote location.

Kieran Timmins, CEO of SmartCentric Technologies International Ltd, adds, ‘The partnership with Pharos Systems supports our approach in fully integrating all campus applications on a single card and provides Universities, Colleges, and Corporations with a very useful and cost saving system on their card.’

Tom Cody, Director of Business Development for Pharos Systems says, “We are very pleased to be partnering with SmartCentric. It means that we will be working with one of the leading providers of smart card systems, thereby insuring that our customers will have access to innovative technology for secure access and secure transactions.”
