HEARTLAND PAYMENT SYSTEMS CAMPUS SOLUTIONSSM
ENHANCES THE CAMPUS EXPERIENCE AT COLLEGES AND
UNIVERSITIES ACROSS THE COUNTRY
Expanded products and services give schools
state-of-the-art technology and increased
support for Campus OneCard™ programs
PRINCETON, NJ — March 6, 2009 —
Heartland Payment Systems (NYSE: HPY)
Campus SolutionsSM
division has added a series of new product
enhancements and services to its Campus OneCard™
product suite. Heartland’s Campus OneCard serves
as a multi-functional campus ID card as well as
a prepaid card that pays for it all — from books
and laundry, to vending and off-campus purchases
… and more. The OneCard System also provides
access control and security, campus notification
capabilities and activities and events
management, among other things.
The expanded offerings help existing higher
education institutions increase functionality
and make their campus card programs more robust.
This is a growing trend as schools across the
country look for ways to enhance campus
offerings and improve resources. The Campus
OneCard program increases convenience for
students, faculty and staff by providing a
quick, flexible payment method for a multitude
of key services. The OneCard program can also
reduce a school’s operating expenses and
generate additional revenue by capitalizing on
everyday purchases.
“We are committed to meeting the evolving needs
of campuses that are adopting the latest
technology and finding new uses and
functionality for their OneCard programs,” says
Fred Emery, vice president and general manager,
Heartland Campus Solutions. “The expanded
offering of products, services and functionality
will help colleges and universities unlock the
value of their campus card programs, leading to
increased cost-efficiency, student safety and
campus-wide communication.”
The new OneCard enhancements, which are backed
by Heartland’s service and support
infrastructure, include:
• OneCard Notify – integrated system-wide
notification enables administrators to reach an
entire campus or select groups in an instant –
via SMS text, email, terminal messages, active
alert beacons and more – with emergency
messaging, subscribed event information, campus
closings and many other options. This system
carries the benefit of safe and easy
communication that is a growing need among
campuses.
• OneCard Smart Reg – a PC-based card
reader device allows for recorded data on a
driver’s license to be read and automatically
populated within system database fields to
properly identify individuals.
• OneCard Verify – a simplified, PC-based
validation terminal enables campuses to record
attendance and verify account privileges without
the need for specialized or expensive hardware
terminals.
• Automatic Account Transfer – a
web-based system that automatically transfers
funds from a cardholder’s bank account into
his/her OneCard account, based on time interval
or balance threshold.
• Improved Customer Support – a new live
chat function on 1card.com gives campuses
direct access to Heartland’s support team.
