Wells Fargo Launches First
Student Funds
Disbursement Program at Texas
A&M University
New Program Offers Students
Choices and Simplifies University Operations
COLLEGE STATION,
Texas, June 8, 2009 –
Wells Fargo today announced the launch of
its first Student Funds Disbursement Program
at Texas A&M University on April16. The
program, which directs students to a website
to select how they receive financial aid or
other refund payments from the university,
streamlines the university’s operations by
outsourcing payment preference collection
and payment processing.
“This new program
significantly reduces the administrative
support required to process more than
100,000 student refund payments annually,”
said Texas A&M Vice President for Finance
and Chief Financial Officer Terry Pankratz.
“We are pleased to continue working with
Wells Fargo to simplify our operations while
offering students access to a complete
selection of financial services to meet
their needs, today and after they leave the
university.”
Under the new program,
students can choose to have their refunds
deposited
directly to any domestic checking or
savings account, or they can choose to
receive a check in the mail. Students who
opt to have their refunds deposited directly
into their Wells Fargo account enjoy the
benefit of the fastest available refund
processing and the option to access their
refunds with the new Aggie Bucks Unlimited
Gold debit card – the only debit card
designed exclusively for the Texas A&M
University community. Launched in January of
this year, the Aggie Bucks Unlimited Gold
Card offers:
-
No-fee PIN and
signature-based purchase capability
everywhere Visa® debit cards are
accepted, including grocery stores,
restaurants, and gas stations — even
internet and phone purchases.
-
Enrollment into Wells Fargo’s
optional Exclusive Rewards®
Program for Check Card.
-
Free access to over 12,000
Wells Fargo® and Wachovia ATMs.
In addition to the customized debit card,
Wells Fargo offers accounts designed
especially for today's busy college
students—such as the Wells Fargo College
Checking® account—and tools
to make it easier for students to manage
their money.
“In the same way that the
university helps to prepare its students for
their careers, Wells Fargo wants to help
them succeed financially.” said Carol
Gravis, Wells Fargo Community Banking
president based in Bryan, TX. “This new
program is just one of many ways we team up
with Texas A&M University to streamline
processes for both the university and its
students.”
Wells Fargo has been working
with Texas A&M University since 1998, and
began collecting student preferences and
processing student refund disbursements in
April 2009.
