CBORD’s Off-Campus Commerce
Continues to Soar
Ithaca, New York—The
CBORD Group, Inc., the
leading provider of campus
card and integrated security
solutions to colleges and
universities, is pleased to
announce that sixteen
additional schools partnered
with CBORD® for
off-campus program
management in the first
semester of the current
academic year. These schools
join the nearly one hundred
other institutions using
UGryd® to expand
their university-issued
student IDs to include
CBORD’s local merchant
payment platform.
George Washington University
(Washington D.C.),
Youngstown State University
(Youngstown, OH), Bucknell
University (Lewisburg, PA),
and Clemson University
(Clemson, SC) are among the
latest schools to empower
purchasing across campus and
beyond with secure,
PCI-compliant transactions.
These programs improve
relations between
universities and local
communities, and drive
revenue for universities and
merchants alike.
All sixteen universities use
CBORD’s CS Gold®
or Odyssey PCS™ campus card
systems, simplifying card
management on campus and
off. Some schools are going
off campus for the first
time, while others partnered
with CBORD to expand their
existing programs. Some are
beginning with participating
merchant counts in the
single digits, while others
work with more than one
hundred. CBORD’s off-campus
programs, powered by UGryd
technology, can be scaled
and adapted to meet the
unique needs of each
university. UGryd offers
universities flexible
platforms for both
self-operated and
CBORD-operated programs.
"Our program had been long
established, but our
merchants weren't getting
the best service," said Ken
Pimentel, Managing Director
of the GWorld Card Program,
George Washington
University. "With UGryd, not
only have we been able to
greatly expand the number of
merchants utilizing a faster
IP connection for their
terminals, but both the
university and our merchants
have access to a detailed
level of real-time
reporting, greatly
simplifying the management
of the program."
George Washington University
is one of several
institutions to recently
convert its full one-card
system to CBORD.
“The schools partnering with
CBORD for off-campus
programs represent a diverse
mix of large, small, public,
private, two-year,
four-year, rural, suburban,
and urban institutions,”
said Shawn McCarthy,
Managing Director, Wide-Area
Commerce Solutions, The
CBORD Group, Inc. “This
proves that there is no
single type of school for
which off-campus programs
are best suited; any
university can benefit from
CBORD’s flexible and
scalable off-campus commerce
solutions to extend the
reach of their campus card
systems.”
