Single Card Provides Multinationals with Simple Solution to Global Security

TSSI has announced it is integrating HID’s Corporate 1000 35 bit card format into its Verid+ fingerprint verification technology, giving large end-user organizations access to a system that can accommodate just over one million individual user identities, spread across multiple locations worldwide.

By standardizing on the Corporate 1000 format, companies can employ a single access card that will work at any site, regardless of the local hardware and software system. Thus an employee that has registered in an office in London can visit and gain access to a satellite office in New York without having to re-register at the local office.

The advantage of adding Verid fingerprint verification is that it provides foolproof confirmation of the identity of the cardholder, eliminating the risk of a security failure if a card is lost or stolen, or a pin number is disclosed. By storing the representation of an individual’s fingerprint on the card, only registered staff can gain access. A card or PIN number alone is useless without a valid fingerprint.

"The Corporate 1000 format is ideal for multinational companies that use a number of different suppliers for their access control systems, yet want to enable staff traveling between offices around the world to carry just one card for all security requirements," said Ian Elver, sales manager for TSSI.
