PNC Bank and Penn State Join Forces to Bring More Power and Convenience to the Penn State id+ Card

PNC Bank, N.A., headquartered in Pittsburgh, Pa., has entered into an agreement with The Pennsylvania State University to be the exclusive provider of financial services to students, faculty and staff in conjunction with the Penn State id+ Card program, issuer of campus identification cards. The id+ card program’s banking services are in addition to The Pennsylvania State University (PSU) Student Plan and WorkPlace Banking programs that PNC Bank already makes available to the Penn State community.

PNC Bank and Penn State are making banking easier by offering the convenience of using the Penn State id+ Card for banking, in addition to campus-related purposes such as entering residence halls, checking out library materials and accessing meal plans on campus. Customers of PNC Bank, the only banking partner of the Penn State id+ Card program, can “link” their id+ cards to their PNC Bank checking, savings or money market accounts to use their cards at PNC Bank ATMs and to make purchases anywhere MAC®/STARSM and PLUS are accepted.

As part of the agreement, PNC Bank will install ATMs on 17 of the 26 Penn State campuses, with a planned total number of 26 PNC ATMs on these campuses. Four additional PNC Bank ATMs are planned for the University Park campus, boosting to 10 the number of ATMs PNC operates on that campus alone.

Additionally, a new PNC Bank Customer Service Center will be established at the HUB-Robeson Center in University Park in early 2003. This facility will feature an advanced-function ATM as well as a Web Station where students may go online to access their account information through Account Link® by Web, PNC’s primary online banking channel. Currently, the University Park id+ office is staffed with PNC Bank personnel who open PSU Student Plan and WorkPlace Banking accounts, answer questions, link Penn State id+ Cards to PNC Bank accounts and issue Personal Identification Numbers (PINs).

Holders of a Penn State id+ Card can also link the card to their PNC Bank checking, savings or money market account via the Web through Account Link, by stopping at a PNC Bank branch or by calling a dedicated Student Plan customer service number at 1-877-PNC-1000.

The PSU Student Plan includes a free checking account, a free savings account, a free PNC Bank Check Card that can be used with no transaction fees at PNC Bank ATMs and to make purchases anywhere Visa is accepted, one free incoming wire transfer each statement cycle and free, 24 x 7 access to Account Link® by Web and by Phone. In addition, parents of students have the option of linking their PNC Bank account to their child’s account for overdraft protection and to transfer funds.

PNC Bank has University Banking relationships with seven other schools in Pennsylvania.
