PERSONA Migrates Within ASSA ABLOY Group to
TIMELOX
July 18, 2002, New Haven, CT –
Electronic standalone lock manufacturer VingCard PERSONA has migrated within the
ASSA ABLOY Group corporate web to become part of Timelox AB, a leading producer
of standalone electronic locking solutions for the non-hospitality market. The
new partnership allows PERSONA, formerly the commercial division of the VingCard
Group, to capitalize on sales, distribution and technology synergies with
Timelox AB.
The migration consolidates
PERSONA’s product and organization into Timelox, and is expected to improve
PERSONA’s success in the educational campus market.
PERSONA, VingCard and Timelox are
all ASSA ABLOY Group companies. Persona provides an advanced standalone locking
system dedicated to the higher education residence hall market.
“The new structure benefits all
three companies; PERSONA can now focus on the higher education market, giving
Timelox an immediate foothold in that same area and allowing VingCard to
concentrate on the hospitality market,” said PERSONA Vice President, Tor
Baekkelund.
”We are pleased to be offering our
industry leading security systems to the higher education market,” Baekkelund
noted. “Our migration to Timelox gives us new knowledge and technology that
will allow us to better serve our customers.”
PERSONA develops and markets
advanced electronic access locking systems for medium sized to large campuses.
PERSONA, under the auspices of the VingCard Group, introduced its first lock for
educational campuses in 1995, focusing on dorm applications. The PERSONA
standalone access application is based on VingCard’s 25 years of experience in
the hospitality industry. PERSONA is now integrated with Timelox to focus on the
non-hospitality market, while VingCard remains committed to the hospitality
market. Both Timelox and VingCard are part of the ASSA ABLOY group. For more

Timelox AB is an ASSA ABLOY Group company and markets its products through ASSA ABLOY subsidiaries. The company also has distribution and support channels throughout the world. Timelox’s products have been on the market since 1985 when the company started as a division within Besam AB, a leading supplier of door and gate automation. ASSA ABLOY acquired Timelox in 1999.
