DATACARD GROUP UNVEILS LATEST ID WORKS SOFTWARE ENHANCEMENT

Version 2.1 adds flexible reporting capabilities to the modular software family

Minneapolis, MN.— November 20, 2000—Datacard Group today introduced Version 2.1 [DS1]of the Datacard® ID Works® identification software family. Building on ID Works Version 2.0, Version 2.1 adds secure, flexible reporting capabilities to the ID Works Basic Edition, Standard Edition, Standard Designer and Standard Production packages.       Easily accessible from an icon that appears on the PC desktop, the reporting feature enables authorized users to design custom report templates—and print high-impact reports on any standard office printer—using digitized images and demographic information stored in a central image database.

Reports can include images, text or a combination of images and text, displayed as a single record or multiple records per page in landscape or portrait orientation. Users also have flexibility to customize headers and footers and define margins and paper sizes. Plus, a Print Preview function reduces wasted time and paper by displaying reports on-screen before they’re sent to the printer.

“The ID Works Version 2.1 reporting feature opens new capabilities outside the realm of card design and production alone,” said John Bergstrom, Vice President of Datacard Group’s Identity Solutions division. “Possible applications are virtually limitless.”

"For example, corporate employees can use the feature to produce employee directories, emergency-contact reports and employee-of-the month postings. Or, schools can create attendance rosters or special-event posters,” Bergstrom said. “Healthcare, law enforcement and membership programs will find the reporting capabilities equally beneficial.”

Other ID Works Version 2.1 enhancements include enhanced security features, an updated online reference directory and online help, and an expanded array of sample projects.

“ID Works Version 2.1 demonstrates that Datacard’s commitment to improving the efficiency of our customers extends beyond their card programs alone,” Bergstrom said. “With the addition of this flexible reporting capability, users can easily begin designing and producing their own customized reports within the industry’s flagship identification software.”
