New WebLink Product Offers Internet Value Transfer Capabilities
Diebold Card System’s newest product extension, WebLink, allows cardholders and their parents to use a credit card to add value instantly to an ID card account using the Internet. The product is the result of a partnership between Diebold and JSA Technologies, developer of the Web Value Transfer Station (WebVTS). This new form of commerce means parents can quickly and easily replenish a student’s funds, even if they are out-of-state or overseas.
WebLink is an on-line account management service that provides an Internet front-end to campus ID card systems. A cardholder can add value to an account simply by logging on to an extension of the school’s web site and entering his campus ID card number and a credit card number. The easy-to-use interface allows the student to choose how much value they would like to transfer onto their ID card. In addition, students can also view their transactions and balances, report lost or stolen cards, change a Personal Identification Number (PIN), or print copies of account statements.
Kent State University (KSU), in Kent, Ohio, is one of the first campuses to implement WebLink, with installation in process. According to Joe Dunn, senior business manager, Auxiliary Services, KSU, students are looking forward to the convenience of the new system. "WebLink will provide our students with easier access to their account information and a greater ability to control their accounts. They are no longer restricted to campus card office hours to take care of their ID card business."
One of the most popular features of WebLink is the ability to make deposits from remote locations. Parents can access the Internet site from any computer, enter in the student’s account number, and easily replenish the student’s funds. Built-in privacy features allow parents to make deposits while simultaneously keeping the other account information private to the cardholder only.
WebLink has been designed with the latest security features to provide maximum protection for cardholders. The product utilizes high-powered servers and a sophisticated database design so that multiple cardholders can use the site simultaneously without clogging up the system.
Through the Diebold-JSA partnership, WebLink is supported by JSA’s professional staff. JSA Technologies is the original developer and creator of WebVTS, SQL Access and specialized products for Fortune 50 companies.
