Kim Wermers

Your NACCU Volunteers,

Meet Your NACCU Volunteers

This is the latest installment of the NACCU series highlighting our association volunteers. NACCU provides programs and services to our members, many which would not be possible without the dedication and commitment of our volunteer leaders. Volunteers, whether they are a committee member, a Board member, or an onsite volunteer at a conference, are all important in making NACCU volunteer-driven programs an exceptional experience for our card industry peers.

Campus Card Information:

Name: Kim Wermers

School: Dakota State University, Madison, SD

Professional Role: Card Services Specialist

Volunteer Role: Co-Chair, Membership Committee

What is your role at your institution?

I serve in the role of Card Services Specialist at Dakota State University. I am a one-person department on my campus, so I manage the entire card services operation from software to hardware to budgets, etc. I am also responsible for student meal plans as well as the Trojan Silver stored value program we use on and off campus.

Where was the first NACCU conference you attended?

My first NACCU conference was in 2005 at Disney World in Orlando!

What is your favo(u)rite thing about volunteering with your NACCU committee?

I am part of an awesome Membership Committee with some very dedicated volunteers that work hard to meet goals that we have set as a group. I enjoy getting to know our committee members more as well as meeting other committee volunteers, and being able to contribute my time back to the NACCU organization.

What show are you binge-watching right now?

Well... I have to say that I was faithfully watching the BH90210 reboot, but now since the season is over, I really like HGTV shows and have been watching the Very Brady House Renovation project.

What is your go-to coffee / tea order?

I like the McCafe Dark Roast coffee!!

What is your favo(u)rite memory from when you were a student?

I would say hanging out with a bunch of friends, pulling all-nighters and going to Perkins in the middle of the night as they used to be open 24-hours a day back then.

What is one thing that would surprise people about you?

I started playing piano 39 years ago and still play today as well as playing organ part-time at two churches.

What is your favo(u)rite Dakota State University Homecoming tradition?

I am heavily involved in homecoming activities on our campus and coordinate all of the bands that march and are rated by host judges each year, and arrange the awards ceremony after the parade for those bands.
