Meet your NACCU Volunteers: Lina Gallego

Your NACCU Volunteers,
Meet your NACCU Volunteers:
Lina Gallego

This is the latest installment of the NACCU series highlighting our association volunteers. NACCU provides programs and services to our members, many which would not be possible without the dedication and commitment of our volunteer leaders. Volunteers, whether they are a committee member, a Board member, or an onsite volunteer at a conference, are all important in making NACCU volunteer-driven programs an exceptional experience for our card industry peers.

Campus Card Information

Name: Lina Gallego

School: University of Alberta

Volunteer Role: Volunteer Development Committee

What is your role at your institution?

I serve as the ONEcard Assistant at the University of Alberta.

When did you join NACCU?

I joined NACCU in 2019 but I started volunteering a few months ago.

What was the first NACCU event you attended?

My first event was the NACCU virtual conference in 2021.

What do you like about volunteering with NACCU?

My favorite thing about volunteering so far is getting to know and work with other members of NACCU.

The zombie apocalypse is coming - who are three people you want on your team?

I would prefer to go with my family - my two kids and my husband. I can trust them to watch my back. Hopefully, that apocalypse is in 15 years or more because right now I fear we would be dead in 5 seconds!

What is your most-used emoji?

I have two emojis I use all the time... the smiling face and the Colombian flag.

If you had 25 hours in a day, how would you use the extra time?

I would use the extra time to spend more time with my kids. Monday through Friday is routine time, but that extra time with them would be nice to spend reading a book. (Kind of a new mom here!)

What skill do you think everyone should have?

I think everyone should have confidence in yourself. It will improve all the aspects in your life.

We hope you enjoyed learning a little about Lina! Please look for a new edition of "Meet Your NACCU Volunteers" soon.
