NACCU New Member Highlight:
Detrios

In this latest installment of our New Member Highlight, we catch up with Brian English from new NACCU member Detrios.

Talk about the history of your company.

Detrios is a software integration company founded by Justin Dagen and Jason Higley. We cut our teeth for 15 years working as customer-facing software engineers at a global access control leader where we were responsible for building a team that designed, developed, and supported custom software integrations for 90+ of the Fortune 100, higher education, K-12, government, military, and more. In 2016, we formed Detrios to build our vision of a company that could work with customers to design innovative software integrations across a wide range of access control platforms and create an off-the-shelf software product to solve the unique access control challenges in higher education. Namely, how to effectively and efficiently manage room and building unlock schedules, temporary access to shared spaces, and temporary access for housing assignments to create a safer, more secure campus

What does your company do?

Detrios is an innovative and rapidly growing custom access control and building automation software solutions firm. We provide our clients with reliable, supportable, innovative solutions and the know-how to apply them to drive real, measurable value to their business. With over a decade of experience designing, developing, and supporting custom software integrations for the access control industry, Detrios is uniquely positioned to solve the challenges our customers face. Our development team is comprised of software engineers who have each worked in the access control industry for 10+ years and have expertise in manufacturer best practices, core functionality, and APIs for all major access control systems. Detrios leverages this experience to provide our customers with the confidence that their integrations will meet their unique requirements.

What products and services do you provide specifically to campus card operations?

Detrios’ DAX product is the industry’s only off-the-shelf solution that integrates your existing access control and room scheduling/event management systems, DAX automates unlocking and securing readers and doors on campus using actual event schedules, while always working within your configured security policies.

Is there a new product of service you want to tell us about?

DAX eliminates the need to run daily or weekly event reports, freeing administrators from the thousands of hours spent annually programming and maintaining custom door unlock schedules. DAX allows you to configure a wide range of options that bring additional convenience and efficiency without ever compromising security, including adding additional pre-event and post-event unlock time, handling standard building open hours, and the ability to go hands-off during unplanned events like weather delays, lockdown or shelter in place scenarios, and room maintenance. And because DAX talks to your event management system in real-time, last-minute events or cancellations are no problem!

DAX is a certified partner solution that leverages manufacturer-supported APIs and utilizes best practices to ensure you maintain full support across each critical campus system that DAX talks to. We recently released DAX version 4.0 which brings support for new partners, including Genetec, Feenics, and Mazévo. The next release of DAX (Q3 2024) will bring support for an even wider range of systems, most notably Avigilon ACM and AMAG Symmetry!

What are you hoping to gain from your NACCU membership?

We are looking to establish new relationships in the higher education community while providing an innovative product that drastically reduces access control door schedule manual programming time and cost while helping to better secure people, spaces, and assets on campus.
