Xavier University Recognized with the NACCU 2026 Innovative Technology Award

Phoenix, AZ – April 30, 2026 – NACCU is proud to announce that Xavier University is the recipient of the NACCU 2026 Innovative Technology Award. The award was presented by incoming NACCU President Josh Bodnar during the Awards Luncheon at the NACCU 2026 Annual Conference in Covington, Kentucky on April 22, 2026. Michelle Dietz, Assistant Director, Auxiliary Services, accepted the award on behalf of the university.
The Innovative Technology Award recognizes and celebrates the success of a NACCU Institutional Member that has introduced a unique and innovative technology-based solution to a problem or opportunity at their institutions in support of services used by campus card programs.
This year’s Innovative Technology award recipient addressed an issue we’ve all seen on campus: food insecurity. This university set out to provide an opportunity for students and employees to contribute to their campus community by helping students experiencing food insecurity, with no stigma or barriers.
The recipients of this year’s Innovative Technology Award used their existing transaction and meal plan system to allow students with extra meals to donate them anonymously through the university app. And students in need can request a meal the same way. No going to a food pantry, filling out a form, answering questions, or using a special ticket. When a meal becomes available, the student gets a notification, and the meal is automatically loaded to their mobile credential.
This year’s Innovative Technology Award recipient found a way to address a need with compassion and dignity, and increase student belonging, engagement and retention, all while reducing food waste and maximizing resources. To learn more, read the full award nomination here.
