Boots on the Ground: What NACCU Learns by Visiting Members on Their Turf

At NACCU, we believe that relationships matter. To that end, NACCU Board members, staff, and other leaders occasionally have the opportunity to visit NACCU member campuses. These visits to your turf provide a fuller perspective on what makes your campus and ID operation unique.

While we connect virtually in many ways - through our listserv, webinars, showcases and NACCU NetworX, there’s something uniquely valuable about visiting a member campus in person. These campus visits aren’t just an opportunity to share resources and highlight the benefits of NACCU membership - they’re an essential part of how we learn from you.

Here’s what we gain by stepping onto your campus:

1. A Deeper Understanding of Your Unique Campus Culture

Every college and university has its own identity, and that culture extends into how your campus card program is structured and managed. When we visit your campus, we see how your services fit into the broader student experience. We learn how your card program supports dining, access control, housing, bookstore purchases, transportation, and more—all within the unique context of your institution.

2. Insights into Your Challenges and Innovations

Hearing about your pain points and creative solutions firsthand allows us to better understand what support and resources our members need. Whether it’s a staffing shortage, a policy change, or a new technology implementation, we listen and learn how you’re navigating change. Your real-world examples help inform the content we provide through our resources, webinars, and in-person events.

3. Inspiration from Your Space and Systems

Visiting your One Card center, or seeing the other facilities that utilize point-of-sale systems, access control hardware, and readers gives us a visual, hands-on understanding of your setup. These experiences inspire case studies, member spotlights, and best practice guides that benefit the broader NACCU community.

4. Feedback That Helps Shape NACCU’s Future

We don’t just share NACCU with you - we invite you to shape it. During campus visits, members often offer candid feedback about our programs, communications, or events. We use your input to improve the value we deliver to all our members. These conversations have led to new webinar topics, enhancements to our website, and even ideas for the future.

5. Stories That Unite and Uplift Our Community

Your stories are powerful. We love hearing how a campus card program helped improve retention, drove operational efficiency, or transformed how students access services. By visiting your campus, we collect stories that help other institutions grow and feel connected. These success stories often become conference presentations, webinars, or blog posts.

Our Visits Are Just the Beginning

When NACCU visits your campus, it’s more than a meeting - it’s a conversation that continues long after we leave. Each visit strengthens our understanding, reinforces our mission, and helps us serve you and your peers better.

If you’d like to invite NACCU to visit your campus, let us know! We’d love to learn from you - and celebrate the incredible work you’re doing to enhance the student experience.

Thank you for welcoming us into your world. We’re always listening, always learning, and always here to support you.
