Tell us a little about your professional experience and how it led you to this role at NACCU.
I have worked in Human Resources, Training and Leadership Development, and Program Management for over 25 years, and I have always enjoyed building relationships in every aspect of my career. One of the proudest moments of my career was during my time at Harvard University. I was part of a team that helped launch the “Bridge to Higher Learning” program, which is still active today. This program offers staff members training in English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), computer skills, GED preparation, and other foundational courses — all taught by Harvard professors. It was designed to help staff excel in their current roles and achieve their goals, regardless of their educational background. This was a particularly meaningful project for me, especially as it served members of my department in Dining Services who otherwise wouldn’t have had access to such resources. This experience was the catalyst for my passion for supporting adult learners and creating accessible education within organizations.
After Harvard, I continued my work in various corporate environments, focusing on professional and management development. In my most recent role, I served as an Instructor Success Manager, supporting technical instructors in delivering top-tier learning experiences to students and corporate clients. I also led onboarding and training for instructors using a custom learning portal, which centralized the tools and resources they needed for success.
What aspects about NACCU's mission or work stood out to you as you explored this opportunity?
I was especially excited to learn about the volunteer network at NACCU and the role they play in supporting other members. This really resonated with me, as I thrive on building connections and learning about others' needs and interests. The culture at NACCU struck me as incredibly friendly, supportive, and engaging — all of which made me eager to become part of the team.
Tell us a little about your life outside of work.
I’m a huge fan of college sports — especially football and basketball (both men’s and women’s). We are big Clemson Tigers fans in our house, but I also grew up an Ohio State fan. My grandparents and parents are from Columbus, Ohio, and I’ve admired Archie Griffin my entire life. On football Saturdays, you’ll usually find me in my scarlet #45 jersey cheering for the Buckeyes or the Tigers!
When I’m not watching college sports with my family, I’m often poolside cheering for my 17-year-old daughter. She’s been swimming since she was 5 years old and currently competes with her high school team, Nation’s Capital Swim Club, and in a summer league. I like to say I’m living my “Mom Swim Era,” and I love every minute of it!
What is something unique members might enjoy learning about you?
While working at the Talbots corporate office, I was responsible for onboarding all new employees each week. I loved welcoming people into the organization and helping them feel comfortable. Sometimes, I onboarded up to 30 new hires in a single week, supporting a company of over 1,000 employees. Over my 8 years there, I became known as the “Mayor of Talbots” because I enjoyed connecting new employees with long-time staff members. This helped create a sense of community and made the transition smoother for new hires.
As you begin your new role, what are you most looking forward to learning or doing with NACCU?
I’m truly excited to meet everyone and learn more about NACCU’s work and the contributions of each member. I look forward to collaborating with the volunteers and learning from their experiences and ideas. As someone who loves college life, I’m especially thrilled to return to the world of higher education and support the NACCU community in meaningful ways.
